The internet is full of motivational quotes. There is no harm with motivational quotes. But the real problem is that almost everybody writes motivational quotes these days. I joined a group last year that published a book containing only motivational quotes. Let me be clear again- I don’t have any problem with anyone publishing a book online. But the real issue is the number of motivational quotes. There are too many numbers of motivational quotes available on the internet. Some of them plagiarized, but they are not easy to detect. Too many people are trying to motivate people with their writings. It is what I call Motivational Porn.
If you go through the motivational quotes present on a website, you will realize that they are self-contradicting. You will not reach any point of understanding. You will not be able to follow which one to follow and which one to ignore. Multiple numbers of websites have motivational quotes. Such a high number of self-contradictory motivational quotes are a pain in the ass.
You open Facebook or Twitter; you see a person who has shared a quote. But how many of them you remember?
