How To Fool The Mass?

People are aware of the Sabrimala Temple row. Supreme Court of India ordered the end of an 18-year-old restriction by the 1991 Kerala High Court judgment on women of menstrual age entering the shrine. Media went crazy about it, and women felt liberated. Women were eager to break the shackles by entering a temple! The media created hype. As if some messiah has arrived to liberate women. It sounded like the beginning of the era of female emancipation. Few women started to believe that they became equal to men. The communication, harping on the secularism issues, was that the order made women equal to men.

But people forgot that secularism doesn’t bring equality. It has nothing to do with women’s rights or even anybody’s rights. Rather religion separates men from women. If we look at history, we will find the atrocities against women in the name of religion. Hindus proudly thumped their chests in favor of Sati Pratha. Then how come women feel that they become equal by just entering a temple. Religion always enslaves women.

I think both women and men should stay away from any form of religious temptation. I would love to know the view of women’s groups on the Sabrimala matter. Do they feel by allowing women to enter a temple will help women to fight for equality? A false projection of equality is getting portrayed. It doesn’t matter whether women get entry to a temple or not. I think that women should appreciate that they were not allowed at a place that despises women. By separating themselves from religion, women can weaken religious bodies. They should welcome the idea of reason and logic. Media, in the name of secularism and women’s right, created a false vision of equality and mass swallowed it.
