Lights, Camera and Call-To-Action

There is a newspaper house in Kolkata who also presents their news on YouTube. They share content in video format on YouTube. However, they are doing a bizarre thing. They are putting the CTA (call-to-action) before the news, every time. It means the content comes after the call-to-action. The CTA asks to subscribe to the channel.

People click on a video to see what is inside if they found the headline is appealing. And if you start the video with the call-to-action, you’re just wasting the precious time of your audience. You are making them wait. They visit your channel with the anticipation of finding something new and meaningful. However, you’re welcoming them with a CTA! It's just not done. Though there is no such rule that CTA always has to come after the content, but it’s better to put CTA at the end of the content. A reply or increase in subscription means the content you shared serves the purpose, not because of the CTA. People visit your site/page/channel, not because of the CTA, they want to get delighted by the content you have shared. A fancy CTA will not increase your subscription.

In a platform like YouTube that is known to everyone, asking for a CTA is a cliché.
