A lady is talking on the phone. Around 30 years of age.
Aunt
“Yes, I’ve heard. Abhijit called me. I can’t wait to…. Yes, he is here standing next to me. Listening to what I’m saying to you. “
A boy, 5 years old. Listening to what his aunt is talking. He is not talking. The aunt leans forward to the boy and asks.
Aunt
“Aren’t you happy that you have a sister now? “
The boy still remains silent. The aunt goes back to talking on the phone.
Aunt
“He is not saying anything. Yeah… OK. I’ll take him to the hospital in the evening. Now I’m hanging up.”
After the call, the aunt once again asks
Aunt
“Aren’t you happy that you have a sister? Will you go with me to see your sister?”
Boy
“I’m bored. Give me your phone.”
Cut to
The aunt and the boy enter a hospital cabin. There is a bed inside the cabin. A lady is resting on the bed with her newborn. A man standing next to the bed. The lady on the bed is the mother of the boy and the newborn girl. The man is their father.
Seeing his father, the boy goes near to his father.
(Looking at the boy)
“Won’t you see your sister’s face? “
The mother lifts the newborn and presents it to the father. Father lifts the boy to help him see the daughter’s face.
Father
“See. Your sister.”
The boy moves his head and sees the opposite side.
Father
“Won’t you see her?”
Boy
“No”
Aunt
“Everyone loves her. No one loves you.”
Boy
“No. Everyone will love me.”
Three of them fall into laughter.
Mother is entering the house with the newborn. The father is behind. The boy is watching them from inside the house.
Mother
“Won’t you welcome her? “
Boy
“I’m busy now. “(And goes into the other room)
Father and mother fall into laughter
Cut to
Dinner table. The mother is sitting on a chair with her newborn. Father and boy are having food.
Mother
“Give something from your plate to her”
Boy
“No. Why will I give?”
Mother
“Okay. You don’t have to give. I’ll feed her.” (Mother picks something from the plate and start to feed the newborn)
Seeing that the boy goes near to his mother and says
Boy
“Feed me also”
Father and mother fall into laughter.
Cut to
The boy is sitting on a bed inside his room. The mother enters the room. Behind her the father with the newborn.
Mother
“From now on, your sister will stay in this room too.”
Boy
“No. This is my room. Only I will live here.”
Both laughs
Mother
“Do you have any idea how much she loves you? The moment she sees you she smiles.
The father takes the baby near to the boy. The baby starts to laugh the moment she sees her brother. The father hands over the newborn to the boy. The girl starts to giggle more. All three of them start to play with the newborn.
